AMA retreats

The AMA has launched a significant new initiative for the arts sector - AMA retreats - a programme of intensive three-day residential courses to enable you to take time out to focus on the development of yourself and your organisation.

This programme features trainers such as Jon Teckman (consultant and associate at Ashridge Business School), John Knell (one of UK's leading thinkers on the changing face of work and organisations) and Helen MacKintosh (highly experienced management consultant and coach). Along with contributions from some of the most innovative arts marketers and cultural leaders working today, and optional coaching from our accredited executive coaches, these programmes provide a rare opportunity to work with others at a similar (advanced) level and promise to be a mix of high level discussion, debate, development and sharing of ideas.

AMA retreats will operate at three different levels:

Established - for heads of department and directors

(October 2010)
Focusing on strategic direction, business planning, leadership, stakeholder management, resilience and impact. Application deadline extended.

Executive - for managers

(May 2011)
Exploring the skills required to become a more effective member of the senior management team, developing your marketing and public engagement strategies in line with the business plan, the artistic policy and the needs of the audiences and visitors.

Emerging - for senior officers

((March 2011)
Focusing on improving the effectiveness of your marketing and digital strategies / campaigns. And providing the management skills needed to take on greater responsibility within your organisation.

Don't miss this opportunity to take part in one of the programmes now offered at a price that is approximately 50% less than in future (non-funded) years.

Click www.a-m-a.co.uk/AMAretreats to find out more details about the programme and application process.

Cultural Exchange
The AMA's Cultural Exchange pilot took place in 2003 with our sister organisation, GVR in the Netherlands. A selection of AMA & GVR members were paired up and then spent time at their respective workplaces. The aim was to offer a ‘cultural exchange’, with participants gaining new perspectives from insights into how marketing the arts is carried out in each other’s country. Looking to the future, this programme could be a starting point in fostering new links between international cultural organisations, and be extended over time to allow new relationships to develop between arts professionals worldwide.
