Generally good advice ...

From top left, clockwise: Julie, Anna, Hannah, Andrea, Emma, Neil, Katherine, Kate, Helen and Annabel Neil says drink plenty of water throughout the day. He is amazed at how easy it is to get dehydrated at this sort of event.

Hannah says don't be afraid to ask if there is something that you are not sure about – AMA members are a friendly bunch and the staff are quite nice too – there should always be someone on the registration desk to help with your queries.

Katherine says name badges are the accessory for this summer – make sure you wear yours to aid networking.

Annabel says don't forget to check out the various networking opportunities at conference - check out your conference guide for more details of what's on offer!

Helen says don't get talked into staying out really late on the Wednesday night – (see Neil's tip above about drinking plenty of water).

Julie advises you check out the freebies available from the AMA and our exhibitors – she can still be spotted using her AMA conference bag from last year.

Andrea lost more than a couple of pens last year, so he suggests that you take some spare ones with you. If you lose those too, ask for a free AMA pen at the registration desk.

Anna says: it sounds obvious, but I recommend trying to remember which seminars you book for – we’ll be on hand at the registration desk to help if you do forget, but you risk losing precious tea-drinking and networking time. Have a go at visiting all the exhibition stands to get up to speed with what’s on the marketing market, and to pick up any freebies...

Kate says please feel free to come and introduce yourself to any of the AMA staff, especially me (see Hannah's advice above). As the new membership development manager, I like to get to know as many of our members as possible – after all, we're only here because of you! And - don't forget to enjoy the conference.

Emma says: if this is your first conference (as it is mine) – start to exercise handshakes, smiles and introductions in front of the mirror – 5 minutes a day, three times a week for full flair and professionalism.
