Arts Marketing Association conference comes to Scotland
Over 500 arts professionals from across the UK and Europe will gather in Scotland this July when the Arts Marketing Association’s annual conference comes to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Tailor Made – developing made to measure strategies for the arts will see arts marketers, managers and directors come together to debate the future of the arts, hear about new ideas and network with other arts professionals.
Executive Director of the Arts Marketing Association, Julie Aldridge says:
‘We’re so excited to be coming to Scotland – Edinburgh is both a great cultural centre and a fun and vibrant place and because the Arts Marketing Association represents arts professionals throughout the UK it’s great that this year our Scottish members can benefit from the conference being closer to home.’
‘The rest of our members are excited too, bookings have been coming in thick and fast and part of the reason for that is that delegates really appreciate the opportunity to visit Scotland.’
Tailor Made is sponsored by the ticketing supplier Tickets.com, in partnership with the Guardian, the Observer and Guardian Unlimited and is supported by the Scottish Arts Council and the National Museums of Scotland. The Scottish Arts Council is running a bursary scheme to allow people from smaller arts organisations in Scotland to attend. It is also offering bursaries to reward loyal attendees. Successful applicants will only have to pay £50 toward their conference place.
Fiona Sturgeon, Head of Audience and Organisational Development at the Scottish Arts Council said: ‘This will be the third time the Scottish Arts Council has been able to support the Arts Marketing Association Conference in Scotland. Edinburgh in 1998 was a landmark conference, when the Scottish Arts Council first indicated its formal commitment to audience development.
‘Nearly ten years on, it is extremely important to us that Scotland’s unique perspective in arts marketing and audience development is seen within a national context. We hope that our bursary scheme will enable more delegates from Scotland to attend than ever before – as first timers, and devotees.’
